The production petrolera of Venezuela closed the second quarter of 2023 at an average of 808,000 barrels per day (bpd), this implies an increase of 10.5% with respect to to the first three months of the year, when the average was 731,000 barrels per day, according to official sources included in the report of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) published this Thursday.

In monthly terms, however, crude oil output fell 2.8% in June to 796,000 bpd compared with Mayo, when the country produced an average of 819,000 bpd, according to the data.
In the document, the organization noted that Venezuela and Brazil were the main drivers of oil demand in Latin America, where it increased year-on-year by 0.2 mb/d (million barrels daily) in April, below the year-on-year growth of 0.4 mb/d observed in March.
Regarding global demand for crude oil, OPEC raised its forecasts for 2023 by 100,000 barrels per day,compared to its calculations a month ago, up to 2.4 million barrels per day, due to the pull of the Chinese economy.

Last June, the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) announced the start-up of at least two production units in the state of Zulia (west, bordering
Colombia) , with which the pumping of crude oil from this area of the Caribbean country will increase.
Venezuela, which projected to close the year 2022 with a production of more than 2 million bpd, pumped an average of 716,000 bpd, which represented an increase of 12.5% compared to with 2021, when it averaged 636,000 bpd, but a much lower figure than expected.
